Food Festival proves taste for festivals is still strong

2 August 2021

The 2021 Edinburgh Food Festival closed on Sunday 1 August, marking the first course of Assembly Festival's activity in George Square Gardens this summer.

Over 15,000 visitors enjoyed food and drink from some of Scotland's best street food vendors across the ten-day event. Some favourite dishes of the festival included Venison Chili Con Carne Nachos from The Fat Flamingo; Pork and Blue Cheese Pie from Jarvis Pickle Pies; Pork Belly Bánh Mì from Prime Street Food; and Tikka Fish and Chips from Free the Chilli.

Supported through Scotland's Events Recovery Fund delivered by EventScotland, the Edinburgh Food Festival marked the beginning of Assembly Festival's 2021 festival season. Assembly George Square Gardens will host an exciting calendar of circus, comedy, music, theatre and more until Sunday 29 August. Fringe-goers will still be able to enjoy the best of Scotland's larder with stalls from Alanda's Seafood, Chick + Pea, Kebabbar, Mana Poke, and more taking up residency in the Gardens till the end of the month.

The Edinburgh Food Festival will return to George Square Gardens in July 2022.
